USA MMA Night of Champions 2

The Cajundome was packed to see a great night of fights. The event was headlined by a lightweight championship bout between acadiana product Dustin Poirier and texan Derrick Krantz. Both fighters displayed their grappling acumen in a technical fight that was action packed with numerous positional changes and submission attempts.
After a brief punching exchange, Poirier landed a knee to the midsection of the texan. Krantz used his wrestling to push Poirier against the cage using a single leg attempt. He switched to a double leg takedown to finally elevate Poirier to put him on his back. Poirier secured guard and proceeded to fluidly transition through several submission attempts including triangles, armbars, and an omaplata but Krantz ended the round standing over his foe delivering blows.
The second round began similar to the first. Krantz pushed Poirier against the cage and got the single leg to drag him to the mat. Poirier used the cage to push off of landing in side control to reverse Krantz. Krantz gets back on top and then Poirier gets the tap with an armbar/triangle.
These two combatants put on a very competitive match and both can hold their heads high.
