Nola fighters Guillard and Barry Fight for the Troops

Two proud New Orleanians will fight on this saturday night's UFC Ultimate Fight Night 23: Fight for the Troops 2. UFN 23 will be aired on Spike TV at 8 pm cst from Ft. Hood, TX.

Melvin "The Young Assassin" Guillard (44-9-3 1NC) will vault himself into contender status in the UFC lightweight division with a win over highly regarded Evan Dunham (11-1), and Pat "HD" Barry (5-2) will try to rebound off a loss when he battles with tough veteran Joey Beltran (12-4).

Guillard has won five of his last six bouts and is on a three fight win streak since joining Greg Jackson's fight team in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Melvin has always been an excellent athlete with good wrestling and atom bombs in both fist. With a strong team behind him, Melvin has matured as a fighter. He has been fighting smarter and has beaten some high level BJJ blackbelts and knockout artist during his current resurgence. Dunham has won four of his last five. He's good standing or on the ground and is a serious test for Guillard.

Barry will be looking to get back on track after he lost to legendary kickboxer Mirko Cro Cop. Barry had Cro Cop hurt badly but waned in the closing minutes after Barry broke a hand and a foot during the bout. The Duke Roufus protege' is another excellent athlete with power in both hands and kicks like a mule. Beltran is a tough banger that is not going to dance around, so Barry will not have a problem finding his foe.
