"Stacked" Results




Ben Kristonis vs Joe Lerma
Kristonis utilized his grappling prowess to get the unanimous decision over a tough opponent. Kristonis wasted no time taking Lerma down and putting him on his back. Kristonis worked out of a variety of top positions while working in a healthy dose of punches on his way to a unanimous decision victory.



Mitchell Dague vs Phillip Patterson
Dagree came out swinging but Patterson elevated him for a big slam. Patterson transitioned to side control, then to mount, finishing the round with punches in mount. After a brief striking exchange, Patterson executed another powerful slam on Dague, moved to side, then to mount. Patterson finished Dagree with an armbar at the 1:41 mark.



Gary Pena vs Manny Rittz
Pena wasted no time shooting for a takedown but left his neck exposed. Rittz sunk in a tight guillotine choke. Pena went to sleep 41 seconds into the fight.



Todd Sumar vs Eddie Warren
Both fighters came out winging punches. Warren secured a takedown but Seman got a reversal and finished the round in top control. The second round began with another striking exchange with both fighters landing big punches, but 46 seconds into the round Warren landed a devastating left hook that put Seman out.



Jeff Wuenchell vs Vince Porter  (Welterweight Amateur Title)
Wuenchell won a unanimous decision by stifling the high flying striking style of Porter. The fight began with both men trading punches. Wuenchell got a single leg takedown, moved to north/south, to side control, attempted a kimura, and slid to back control. Porter defended and got back to his feet and ended the round with a flying knee at the bell. The second round was spent on the ground as both fighters traded top position and reversals. Porter started the last round landing a flying knee, but Wuenchell used the opening to grab his leg and drag Porter to the ground. Wuenchell passed guard and went for another kimura near the end of the fight. 



Kurt Holobaugh vs Lorenzo Washington (155 Amateur Title)
Holobaugh started the bout with a powerful slam. Washington worked back to his feet and then Holobaugh unleashed a barrage of knees from the clinch rocking his opponent finishing Washington off with a swarm of punch on the ground 24 seconds into the fight.


Justin Friddle vs Fabian Guitterez (Middleweight Amateur Title)
The fighters briefly traded strikes on the feet. Friddle put his opponent on his back, quickly transitioned to mount, then took Guitterez' back. Guitterez reversed position gaining top control and Friddle went for a triangle attempt as the round ended. The second round began with Friddle getting another takedown. Guitterez reversed position, passed guard, and advanced to mount. Guitterez finished off the second stanza with punches from mount and a late armbar attempt. Friddle came out aggressive in the final round rocking his opponent with heavy punches and finished Guitterez off with punches on the mat 1:24. 

Professional Bouts:
Charlie Rader vs Adrian Miles (Professional Welterweight Title)
The opponents begin and they clinch against the cage for a while. Rader gets a trip and takes mount. Miles spins and Rader takes his back. Miles gets back to his feet and both land punches to end the round. The second begins like the first with Rader clinching up and pushing Miles against the cage. Miles goes for a judo throw attempt that Rader countered. Both fighters fall and get into a grappling exchange that saw both men counter each other in numerous positions as the round ends. The last round begins like the others with Rader pushing Miles to the cage and working from the clinch. Rader drops for a double leg and they go back to trading top position for the remainder of the bout. Rader gets the unanimous decision.


Shawn Jordan vs James Hall
The fighters trade strikes. Hall catches Jordan with a good left and Jordan gets a takedown. He passes guard and moves to north/south position and applies the fight ending choke 1:45 in the first round.


Kyle Bradley vs Marcus Brimmage
The fight starts off fast and furious as Bradley comes out looking to overwhelm Brimmage. Bradley wades in with heavy punching combinations and muay thai knees. The fight hit the ground and Bradley went to mount and let go a punching flurry. He had Brimmage on the verge of unconsciousness, but Brimmage persevered, worked back to his feet, and launched a counter attack of his own. He hit Bradley with a couple of big punches that backed Bradley against the cage, then a big knee, and another couple of punches that sends Bradley down as the referee steps in to halt the bout 3:01 into the fight.


Ricco Rodriguez vs John Juarez
The fight begins with Juarez chopping leg kicks. They clinch up against the cage. They break apart and Hall goes back to leg kicks. They clinch up again against the cage and Ricco works in some good knees to the body to end the round. They trade punches and kicks to begin the second round. Ricco pushes Hall up against the cage and works in some dirty boxing from the clinch. They separate and Ricco tries a head kick. Another punching exchange with both landing a couple of shots and the round ends with Ricco landing a flying knee. As the last round begins, they trade punches and clinch against the cage. Ricco goes back to working knees to the body and they trade punches to end the bout. Ricco gets the split decision.

Stacked Preview

USA-MMA presents "STACKED" at the Baton Rouge River Center at 7:30 on Saturday July 31st.

Former UFC Heavyweight Champion Ricco Rodriguez headlines the night of fights as he takes on John Juarez. Juarez is an explosive striker fighting out of UFC veteran Rory Singer's camp. Rodriguez will look to keep his seven fight unbeaten streak alive.

Baton Rouge native and UFC veteran Kyle Bradley will test himself against the well rounded skills of Marcus Brimage in one of the nights featured bouts.

Former LSU National Champion Fullback, Shawn Jordan will look to overpower Dallas based kickboxer James Hall in the night's other featured bout.

There will be two professional belts up for grabs as USA-MMA Heavyweight Champion Andrew Staples will defend his title against Roman Pizzolatto, and Charlie Rader will defend his Welterweight Championship against Adrian Miles.

 Two amateur titles will be determined on the undercard.

Bellator takes notice

Bellator Fighting Championships has taken notice of the Louisiana fight scene. After hosting an event in north louisiana just a few short months ago, they have scheduled an event in New Orleans for its second endeavor in the bayou. New Orleans has a solid history of producing MMA talent including UFC veterans Melvin Guillard, Pat Barry, and Rich Clementi, with Kyle Bradley in Baton Rouge, Tim Credure in Lafayette, and recent transplant Ricco Rodriguez...the south louisiana fight scene has blossomed into a bloody blend of grappling and striking.
The Mahalia Jackson Theater will host Bellator 28th on September 9th. Two fights have been tentatively scheduled:
New Orleans-area native and beloved UFC veteran Rich "No Love" Clementi (36-16-1) vs. Bellator Season 2 veteran Carey Vanier (9-3) at 155 lbs.
Bellator Season 2 veteran Georgi "Insane" Karakhanyan (13-2-1) vs. undefeated Texas-based submission ace Chas Skelly (7-0) at 145 lbs.

Ricco wins by 1st round TKO

USA-MMA packed almost 4,000 people into the pavilion of the Coushatta Casino Resort for the "Legends" event. Ricco Rodriguez won the Heavyweight belt with a TKO by punches in the 1st round over Ken Sparks. The former UFC Heavyweight Champion took down his opponent and worked for back control, eventually flattening Sparks out and landing unanswered blows to the head.

Colin Wright defeats Victor Russell by RNC, round 1.
Jack Brumfield defeats Chris Killikely by TKO, round 2.

Daniel Bryant defeats Alex Rojas by DQ, fighter cannot continue after unintentional, illegal blow to grounded opponent.
Lee Higgins defeats Pat St. Ann by Un Dec.
Andrew Craig defeats Antuan Williams by Un Dec.
