Global Fighting Alliance brought a night of action packed fistic action to the West Cal Arena in Sulphur with GFA 12. The fight card consisted of one professional and ten amateur bouts with local fighters representing Lake Area BJJ, La MMA, Universal MMA, and Global Fitness Academy testing themselves against each other and members of American Top Team (ATT) Beaumont (B).
Martin Walker (ATT)(B) vs J.D. Schwendemann

The night got off to a fast and furious pace as these lightweights put on a show. Both fighters had their moments in this bout. Both warriors landed hard punches and kicks and, had positional advantages and reversals on the mat. Walker won a close, hard fought, unanimous decision.
Jeremy McCombs vs Aaron Davis (LK BJJ)

Davis came out swinging bombs trying to take McCombs' head off. McCombs tried to answer but Davis followed up with a slam to the canvas. He then secured side control and mounted McCombs. After a few punches they scrambled, and Davis grabbed a submission and constricted until the tapout.
Jace Bridwell vs Jared Foster (La MMA)

Bridwell opened the round with a flurry that put Foster down, but Foster recovered and kicked Bridwell off. Foster got a takedown, but was swept and ended up mounted. The round ended with Bridwell going for an armbar attempt.
The second round began with both gentleman firing off striking combos. Then the fight hit the mat, and they start trading heel hooks. They disengage, stand, and trade a few more strikes. Bridwell got a takedown, Foster got back to his feet, and the exchanged strikes as the round ended.
The final stanza of this contest began with Bridwell closing the distance and getting a takedown. He stands and throws a couple of punches to the downed opponent. Foster stands and they throw down until Bridwell gets another takedown to secure the unanimous decision.
Joshua Vasquez (La MMA) vs Daniel Hoffpauier (LK BJJ)

Round two began with Vasquez attempting a takedown, but Hoffpauier defended and tripped Vasquez. Once on the mat, Hoffpauier advances from half-guard to side control. Then he pinned Vasquez' right arm and secured a kimura or keylock for the finish.

Daigle began the final round by getting a takedown and advancing from half guard to mount. Brouillette was able to reverse the position, but Daigle grabbed an arm in the scramble. Brouillette slammed Daigle twice, but was unable to escape the armbar.

Teodoro comes out with powerful leg kicks to Hargrave's lead leg. Hargrave closed the distance, clinched up against the cage, and took the fight to the ground. He advanced to the north-south position and to side control. Teodoro regained half guard and worked to get back to his feet. Hargrave again clinched Teodoro up against the cage and tripped him to the mat. Once there, Hargrave worked out of half guard to side control. Then he locked up a fight ending submission.

This fight was a fierce battle. Both combatants started very aggressively in a striking duel. Both men landed hard punches and kicks. The fight hit the mat briefly a couple of times but returned to the feet. As the first round was nearing the end, Wells started to get the better on the exchanges and landed a solid right that ended the fight.
Justin Mead (La MMA) vs Isaiah Lewis (LK BJJ)

In yet another fast paced and exciting fight both warriors traded strikes to begin the bout. Lewis decided to lift Mead over his head and test the structural integrity of the cage floor, but Mead recovered and spun grabbing a leg. Lewis escaped and they resumed fistic fireworks when apparently Lewis lost his mouthpiece and the action was immediately halted. Once the action started, they continued the striking the exchanges. Mead landed some good combos and Lewis tried for a takedown, but left his neck exposed and Mead sunk in a choke.
Robert Taylor (Elite MMA) vs Dakota Smith (LK BJJ)

The two gladiators exchanged a few punches. Smith closed the distance and got the takedown up against the cage. He moved from half guard to mount. He maintained position as he rained down punches and went for an armbar as the bell sounded.
To begin the second round Taylor uncorked a high kick. Smith took the fight to the ground, postured up for punches, and Taylor went for a leg. After a positional exchange, Smith ended up on top and slid into mount. As the round ended he cranked on a kimura attempt.
Taylor came out swinging in the final round. He connected and Smith grabbed a single leg takedown. The fight hit the canvas and as Smith is advancing position, it becomes apparent that Taylor is injured and the fight is stopped.
Mike Stelly (Universal MMA) vs Jacob Gary (Sulphur Karate)

Stelly and Gary began by exhanging kicks, then punches. They clinched up and they eventually hit the ground. Stelly moved to side control and then to mount as he attempted a guillotine choke. As the round drew to a close they scrambled and Stelly was in guard as the round ended.
Stelly starts the round by elevating Gary for a takedown. He went to side control and softened up his opponent with a few punches. Stelly was able to trap Gary's right arm in a keylock position using a figure four with his legs. He grabbed Gary's neck and pulled on his head while pushing his own hips out torquing on Gary's arm forcing the creatively painful tapout.
Nick Washington (LaMMA) vs Pat St. Ann (LK BJJ)

In the final bout of the evening Washington and St. Ann squared off in a competitive and exciting matchup. St. Ann began by backing Washington up against the cage, they clinched up, and they exchanged dominant positions in the clinch. They disengaged and traded strikes. St. Ann got the fight to the ground and took Washington's back. Washington defended, they scrambled, and Washington secured his own takedown. St. Ann deftly took Washington's back and attempted a RNC as the round ended.
In the second round, they traded heavy strikes to begin. They clinched up and hit the mat. Washington attempted a D'arce choke, St. Ann escaped, but Washington maintained the hold and started kneeing St. Ann in the head. St. Ann defended and escaped. They exchanged punches again and Washington got a takedown near the end of the round.
St. Ann came out of the gates trying to make Washington's head explode with his fist, and Washington obliged with a headkick of his own. St. Ann capitalized on the opportunity and put Washington on his back. Washington attempted a triangle, St. Ann slips out, breifly takes Washington's back but slipped off. Washington secured side control and went to mount. He began punching, St. Ann defended but couldn't escape forcing the referee to end the hard fought bout.
